Over the past two years, Russia’s Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS) has become increasingly aggressive about domestic petroleum product prices. Alleging violations of monopoly power, mainly in the wholesale market, it has recently demanded that four of Russia’s largest oil companies pay fines, totaling 20.7 billion rubles (about $670 million). --1/5/2010

Eurasian Gas Export Outlook, May 2009
This round of updates to CERA’s Eurasian Gas Export Outlooks shows the clear impact of falling oil prices in the second half of 2008 and the recent global economic downturn. These factors have affected our production outlooks for the two key producers dependent upon external markets for a significant share of total gas demand, Russia and Turkmenistan, particularly in the short term. --5/29/2009
