Energy security is a growing concern for countries around the world. In Europe, where the focus is on natural gas, there is a debate on the best approach to securing supply. Some argue that increasing competition within the gas market will improve security of supply, while others maintain that stable relationships between gas buyers and suppliers constitute the better strategy. In this interview, CERA Chairman Daniel Yergin and CERA Senior Director Thane Gustafson discuss the different perspectives on European natural gas market liberalization. This topic is also explored in the new CERA Multiclient Study Securing the Future: Making Gas Interdependence Work.
